Gmail messages are missing

This page can help you find your emails if:
  • Some emails are missing.
  • Emails aren't coming to your inbox.
  • Your inbox is empty and all your emails have disappeared.

First, try these common fixes

Check if the email was archived, deleted, or marked as spam
Emails might skip your inbox if they were accidentally archived, deleted, or marked as spam.
Follow these steps to search all your emails, including those that aren't in your inbox:
  1. On your computer, open Gmail.
  2. In the search box, click the Down arrow Down Arrow.
  3. Click the All Mail drop down, then select Mail & Spam & Trash.
  4. Enter some information that’s in the missing email. If you're not sure about exact words or details, leave the fields blank.
  5. At the bottom of the box, click Search Search.
Check if the email was filtered
You may have created a filter that automatically archives or deletes certain emails.
Here's how to check your filters:
  1. From a browser, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. At the top, click the Filters and Blocked Addresses tab.
  5. Look for filters that include the words "Delete it" or "Skip Inbox."
  6. To the right, click Edit or Delete.
  7. Click Update filter.
Check if your emails are being forwarded to another account

When you set up forwarding in Gmail, you can choose whether the original emails are archived or deleted.
Here's how to check your forwarding settings:
  1. From a browser, open Gmail.
  2. In the top right, click Settings Settings.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. At the top, click the Forwarding and POP/IMAP tab.
  5. In the "Forwarding" section, check if you've selected Forward a copy of incoming mail. If you have, selectKeep Gmail's copy in the Inbox or Mark Gmail's copy as read.
  6. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Important: If your emails are being forwarded to an unfamiliar address, select Disable forwarding then check out the Gmail security tips. If you see a forwarding address you don’t know, someone might have unauthorized access to your account.
If you forward mail from another account into Gmail, emails are sometimes sent to Spam if they aren't authenticated. Learn the best practices for forwarding emails to Gmail.
Check your settings if you read your Gmail emails with another email client

If you read your Gmail emails on another email client, like Apple Mail or Microsoft Outlook, follow the steps below for the type of forwarding you’ve set up.

I use IMAP to read emails on email clients like Microsoft Outlook or Apple Mail

When you set up IMAP, you can choose whether the actions you take in your other mail client affect your emails in Gmail. For example, you can choose if deleting a email in Apple Mail also deletes it from Gmail.
Make sure you're using the recommended IMAP settings, and learn how actions sync in IMAP. Look for any settings that explain when emails are deleted.

I use a web app, extension, or add-on to read Gmail

Check your settings to make sure emails aren't getting deleted or archived.
  1. Visit the Connected apps & sites page.
  2. In the "Apps connected to your account" section, click Manage apps.
  3. If you find anything you don't recognize, click the service and then Remove.

I use POP to read emails on email clients like Microsoft Outlook

When you set up POP, you can choose whether the actions you take in your other mail client affect your emails in Gmail. For example, you can choose if deleting a email in Microsoft Outlook also deletes it from Gmail.
  1. Visit the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings page.
  2. Check to make sure POP is enabled.
  3. If you see "Delete Gmail's copy," or "Archive Gmail's copy," select Keep Gmail's copy in the inbox.
  4. At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.
Note: If you're using recent mode with POP, change your email client's POP settings to leave emails on the server.

The steps above didn't help

If you followed the steps above and you still can't find your emails, select the problem you're having below.
I still can't find certain emails
If you couldn't find your email after following the steps above, the email might have been deleted or sent to spam.

Notes about deleted emails

  • If you delete an email, it stays in your Trash for 30 days. After 30 days, emails are permanently deleted from the trash.
  • There's only one copy of every Gmail email. If you deleted an email from one place, like a label or a device, it is deleted from Gmail entirely.
  • Gmail groups all replies to an original email together in a single conversation. When you click or tap delete, the entire conversation is deleted, including the original email and any replies.

Notes about Spam emails

  • If you mark an email as spam, it stays in Spam for 30 days. After 30 days, emails are permanently deleted from Spam.
  • If you think emails are being sent to Spam by mistake, learn how to remove emails from Spam.
Most of my emails are missing
If most of your emails are missing, someone might have unauthorized access to your account and they could be deleting your emails.
If you think someone might have access to your account, follow these steps:
  1. Change your password immediately.
  2. Report the problem to Gmail. It might be possible to recover your deleted emails. If you're using Gmail through your work, school, or other organization, contact your admin.
  3. If your contacts were also deleted, learn how to recover your contacts.

Clean Chrome of unwanted ads, pop-ups, & malware

If you're seeing some of these problems with Google Chrome, you might have unwanted software or malware installed on your computer:
  • Pop-up ads won't go away.
  • Your Chrome homepage or search engine keeps changing or is not set to Google anymore.
  • Unwanted Chrome extensions or toolbars keep coming back.
  • You keep getting redirected to unfamiliar webpages.
Here are some steps you can take to get rid of unwanted software. In the future, avoid malware by only downloading files or visiting sites that you know are secure.

Step 1: Remove unwanted programs from Chrome (Windows only)

If you use a Windows computer, the Chrome Cleanup Tool searches your computer for suspicious programs and offers to remove them for you. Learn more about what programs are removed.
If you use a Mac or Linux computer, move on to Step 2.
  1. On your Windows computer, visit the Chrome Cleanup Tool website.
  2. Click Download now.
  3. Read the terms of service, and click Accept and Download.
  4. When the file is downloaded, you'll see it at the bottom. Click the filename (chrome_cleanup_tool.exe).
  5. Windows will ask if you want to run the file. Click Run.
  6. The Chrome Cleanup Tool will scan your computer. You'll see a list of any malicious software found.
  7. Click Remove suspicious programs.
  8. Chrome will open a new tab, and ask you to reset your settings. Click Reset.

Step 2: Remove unwanted programs (all computers)

If you've bought or downloaded antivirus software, run the program to find and remove harmful programs.
You can also try MalwareBytes, an anti-malware program that can find other malicious software that the Chrome Cleanup Tool might not remove.
Manually remove malicious programs (Mac only)
You can also remove malware and other programs on your computer that you don't remember installing.
  1. On your Mac computer, at the bottom, open Finder.
  2. On the left, click Applications.
  3. Look for any programs you don't recognize.
  4. Right-click the name of any unwanted programs.
  5. Click Move to Trash.
  6. When you're done, at the bottom, right-click Trash.
  7. Click Empty Trash.

Step 3: Reset your browser settings (all computers)

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More More.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. At the bottom, click Show advanced settings.
  5. Under the "Reset settings" section, click Reset settings.
  6. Confirm by clicking Reset.
Still not working? If the troubleshooting steps above don't work, visit the Chrome Help Forum. You can also report malicious software.

Chrome: Faster and more battery-friendly

Last week, we released a new version of Chrome that includes new payment features and performance improvements. In fact, over the last year Chrome has seen double-digit improvements in speed and battery life. These improvements help you get more done, faster, and we thought you’d like an update.

Speed has always been a priority for Chrome. People spend so much time in the browser that even tiny page delays can add up to minutes of lost time every day. When measured with tools like Speedometer, improvements over the last year have made Chrome more than 15 percent faster on both desktop and Android. That’s good news if you’re working against a deadline or trying to place a last-minute order.

We also know that you want to get as much browsing time out of your laptop’s battery as possible. So Chrome now uses less battery for sites that people visit the most. For example, Chrome for Windows lets you watch more video on sites like Vimeo, Facebook and YouTube than it did a year ago.

Of course, people use their browsers for more than just video. That’s why we’ve been improving battery life across the board, tracking progress using power measurement tools. As one example, Chrome for Mac now uses 33 percent less power for everything from videos and images to simple page scrolling. Whether you’re planning a vacation or getting work done, you now get more browsing time from a single battery charge.

We don’t just want Chrome to run faster, we want to help you get things done faster. That’s why we’ve also brought fast, seamless payments to Chrome on Android, including support for Android Pay, by adding support for the PaymentRequest web standard. So now when shopping online, you can check out with as little as a single tap.

New Payments at Groupon

Faster browsing, faster checkouts, and longer battery life — we think you’ll enjoy the latest release of Chrome.

A new Google Hangouts Chrome extension experience

On August month in Google Hangouts, we announced that better group chat controls were now available on Android, iOS, and the web in order to make it a simpler and more consistent experience joining group chats with your team. In following this move towards consistency, on August 31, 2016, a new version of the Google Hangouts Chrome extension will be made available to new users. As we continue to iterate and add in features that help users communicate in group chats, the new experience brings together multiple chat windows into one and makes it easier to see more chat content.
Existing users of the Chrome extension will be able to opt into the new experience on August 31, 2016, which has functional parity with the current experience. Users will have the option to remain on the current experience until October 17, 2016, at which point all users will be automatically updated to the new experience.

In order to make this a smooth transition, we’re updating the Google Hangouts Help Center articles with the latest changes, nested in the Hangouts Chrome desktop app section.

Action Suggested
  • If you have people using the existing Google Hangouts Chrome extension in your organization, share the Help Center articles above to prepare them for this change.
  • If you use Chrome Management (available to all Google Apps customers) to centrally manage installation of the extension, please see our Help Center article for more information.

As a reminder, the new Google Hangouts Chrome extension will become the default experience on October 17, 2016.
All these information is official you can visit on this page http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.in/2016/08/a-new-google-hangouts-chrome-extension.html

Improving the deduplication flow when uploading to Google Drive

23:26 Posted by Unknown No comments
A common use case for Google Drive users is to download a file from their Drive to modify it locally, and then to re-upload the new version. In the past, this would result in duplicate files (the original and the new one), and users would have trouble finding the latest version. That’s why we’re introducing a change in Drive to deduplicate files which were uploaded in this way.

Once launched, when users upload files that have the same filename as an existing file, they’ll be deduplicated, and the old file will be in revision history. This is so that if any mistakes are made, users can get back to the previous version. Similarly, uploaded folders will be merged with folders of the same name.

To prevent the files from being deduplicated, click on “Keep as separate file” once it’s been uploaded.

Available on the web today for Rapid release users, we hope you enjoy the simpler way to update your files.
